When I started university a few months ago, the main thought that I had in mind was that I had to attend my classes, get good marks and complete my course so I could go further in my path because that's what we are often told while growing up. The Indian education system, though has a large number of activities and experiential events, lacks an effective communication and awareness strategy.
I soon realised that books and lectures are not the only things that I needed. What is also equally, if not more, important is exposure to the outside world. In order to excel in my field, I need to know what's going on around the nation and the world. Reading the notes and clearing the exams, many people can do that. But what should also be done is participation in the various types of workshops, seminars and conferences in order to widen the horizens of our thought processes.
The last few days have been very interesting and informative. Being a part of the National Congress of the Society of Industrial and Organisational Psychology gave me an Insight into not just the academic aspects of my subject but also provided me with a great opportunity to meet and interact with such esteemed members of the Psychology community which I could never have thought about.
It is one thing to know about something and it is entirely another thing to have the courage, confidence and capability to Do It. And these 3 Cs can only come when you see something happening right before your eyes and realise that You Too have got what it takes. There is a reason why many courses nowadays are focusing on internship based learning and it's just that. Nothing facilitates learning better than our own actions.
Why I'm writing this? It is because I believe that in our environment, it is so easy to do the things everybody does and follow the same old road that there is a constant absence of new ideas. The pressure to do just what everyone else is doing because that is how society operates is just plain wrong now. What needs to be done is throwing away our boxes and thinking the way we want to. And that thinking will only come if you meet new people and look into things beyond your own comfort zones. Get Out! Try something you're afraid of doing. Be it your academics, hobbies or professional life. Take a look around you, break the monotonous cycle and strive for New Experiences.
Hum kyun chalien uss rah par, jis rah par sab hi chalien
Kyun na chune wo rasta, jis par nahi koi gaya.
Well said that's the problem of our education system. We forget that true education is to make the students capable of Creating new solutions instead of making them capable of scoring 99 percent marks.
ReplyDeleteVery true. New generation needs to change the type of learnings either from books or by attending different seminars or their sarroundings. No one will help you.
ReplyDeleteMatlabi hain log yahan pr
Matlabi zamana socha saaus sath dega nikla vo bhi begana
