So, if you've read my previous post, you would know that lately I've been in a kind of phase where I've not really been able to communicate my feelings. I recently spoke to a close friend of mine and turns out I'm not alone in being in my current state.
It seems that a lot of people my age are finding it difficult to get a grip of their surroundings and find a way for themselves in life. Some are looking for a path to tread while even those who have found their path, are riddled with innumerable doubts and insecurities. This has made me think as to what are we doing wrong? And, even more importantly, what can we do to feel better?
Unfortunately, there are no definite answers to these questions. But there are a few things which I believe can be blamed for our current state. The blame lies nowhere else but within ourselves. I mean, when was the last time you had a real heart-to-heart with your close friends? We have become so engrossed in our efforts to express ourselves and be heard that we have forgotten how to stop for a moment and just listen. Even when we are sitting face-to-face with our dearest friends, our attention is more focused on selfies and social media check-ins than the actual people. And in my opinion, this is, if not completely, partly responsible for our feelings of gloom and loneliness.
So let's try this out. Call that person you're close to or if possible, arrange to meet. Unplug from the Internet for a few hours. Spend some quality time with your family without the interruptions of notifications. Instead of telling your story from the start, try to listen what the other person has to say. Keep your opinions to yourselves, just let them talk. And then, tell your story. Let go of that thing you have held in your heart. Trust me, it'll make all the difference.
True! Sometimes a true heart to heart conversation with a loved one can make you feel so light. All the problems that do not have any solution can be forgotten by just talking about it.
