I've been thinking about starting a blog for a very long time but I just couldn't come up with what I should write. So, since I had some matter in my head today. I thought why not go for it. I just hope you enjoy what you read.
Okay, I'm not a critic or much of a movie person but watching this movie yesterday did make me feel like writing something about it.
After being a huge fan of Zoya Akhtar since the day I watched Zindagi Na Milegi Dubara, I had been eagerly waiting for her next film titled Dil Dhadakne Do. Fortunately the release date of the movie was the same as the last day of my exams so I had obviously planned to watch it over the weekend. After ZNMD, I had real expectations from this one as a fan and especially because DDD also had its dialogues written by Farhan Akhtar(my idol) Before going for the movie, I got sight of some really weird reviews which made me kind of doubtful but luckily I went anyway.

The movie starts with the introduction of its main characters which is given by Pluto Mehra the family dog(voice-over courtesy-- Aamir Khan). The character of Pluto is very eloquent and the dog's acting is commendable.
The entire movie is set on a cruise where the Mehras are celebrating their wedding anniversary with their family and close friends. The story is based on the lives of a rich society Punjabi family of Delhi.
I won't go much in the detail of the story since I don't want to break the suspense for those of you who are yet to watch it but would still like to mention a few things which are highlighted in the screenplay and dialogues.
The movie in a very different and beautiful manner throws light on the issue of male dominance and the "Log kya kahenge" factor of the Indian society. There is a scene where Manav(played by Rahul Bose) says that he allowed his wife Ayesha(Priyanka Chopra) to start her own business after marriage to which Sunny(Farhan Akhtar) asks him,"Why did Ayesha ever need your permission? If you say you permitted her you are automatically putting yourself in a position of authority which is not right." This particular scene says a lot if you look at it the right way.
As a Farhan fan I was a bit apprehensive when I first discovered that he would be in a special appearance but though he came on the screen only after the interval, his dialogues did not let me feel his absence.
The movie is not only full of emotional drama and some serious situations but also a lot of scenes which will make you laugh your heart out. There is one dramatic scene where an aunty picks up a knife and pretends to be about to kill herself to which Kabir(Ranveer Singh) very innocently says, "Aunty wo butter knife hai." After that he actually picks up the other knife and demonstrates to the lady how she can cut her wrist and passes it on towards her.
The music of the movie is by Shankar Ehsaan Loy and lyrics are by Javed Akhtar. The songs are peppy and the words heart touching. Gallan Goodiyan will not allow you to stop tapping your feel and Pehli Baar will make you fall in love.
All in all I can say that Zoya and Reema Kagti's story and screenplay and specially Zoya's direction have not let anyone's expectations down. The dialogues are meaningful and at the same time humourous. If you like to watch movies which make you think and laugh at the same time then this one is a must watch for you. The time of 3 hours will pass in a way you won't even realise it.
ZNMD AND DDD both movies wonderful..they r for special audience/category and director gave different kind of treatment and taste,,
